FREE organizes more than 1,500 lesson plans, primary documents, science
animations, math challenges, and works of art, literature, and music from the
Library of Congress, Smithsonian Institution, National Archives, National
Science Foundation, NASA, National Institutes of Health, National Gallery of
Art, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Park Service, U.S.
Geological Survey, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and other
federal agencies.

American History Seminars registration

Registration for the Spring 08 Seminars is now open.
You can sign up by following the links on the TUSD/TAH Grant Events section on
the right hand column. Space is limited to 20 participants. The seminars will be
held at Naylor Middle School from 4:30pm - 6:00pm.
Promethean Training - Spring 08

Promethean Boards have had a tremendous impact on instruction and student
engagement in classrooms across the District. If you would like to learn
more about how to integrate the Promethean Board and ActivStudio software into
your areas of instruction, or if you want to learn new tips and tricks on using
the board, Teaching and Learning is offering a second semester series beginning
February 7. Sessions will run from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM in the Maroon
Room located in the basement of the Morrow Center at 1010 E. 10th
St. Two hours of Salary Increment Credit will be given to all
participants,
for each session attended.

Arizona's February 5th, 2008 Presidential Preference Election

Teach! -- Sign up your school to participate and receive
free curriculum and materials
Preparing kids to be active and engaged citizens
is crucially important to sustaining our democratic republic, and Kids Voting
provides kids on your campus with a relevant opportunity to experience the power
of casting a ballot. Kids Voting Arizona is providing the opportunity for every
school in Arizona to participate in the 2008 Presidential Preference Election.
Kids Voting Arizona will provide curriculum and activities, ballots and other
materials to minimize the cost and disruption of conducting the Kids Voting
election on your campus.

Volunteer! -- Become a school liaison or help out on election day
We value the gift of your time!!! With the help of
hundreds of volunteers from throughout the state, Kids Voting Arizona will reach
every school in Arizona with the opportunity to participate in this Kids Voting
Election. Please consider filling one of these volunteer roles: School Liaison
(anytime through November 4th), School Polling Place Coordinator
(Morning-afternoon on Feb 5 or Nov 4) or Ballot Tabulator (Evening on Feb 5 or
Nov 4). More information on each of these opportunities at

Represent your democracy, cast a ballot!!! Kids must obtain a Kids Voting Voter
ID either through their school or online at

January 22, 2008 through February 5, 2008 at 7pm! And adults who are registered
Democrats or Republicans, don't forget to cast your ballot Feb 5th in the

Law Day at Superior Court

will hold a program for local high school students and others pursuing law
related careers in celebration of the annual Law Day on May 5, 2008. The theme
for this year’s Law Day activities is “The Rule of Law: Foundation for
Communities of Opportunity and Equity.”"

Law Related Education

Added to the links section. The LRE Academy
Provides teachers, school resource officers, school probation officers,,
and administrators LRE training and instruction that is research-based and
proven effective. The Academy offers basic and advanced level LRE courses
designed to assist educators with the Implementation of law-related education
and activities.

a great resource for teachers looking for Flipcharts that are created by other
teachers around the country. The website does require registration, but it is
very quick and easy to do. You can find a shortcut for Promethean Planet under
the Links and Quick Links Sections of this website.
Glencoe Training
November, 2007
Tim Reed, the very
knowledgeable Glencoe Trainer, will be returning once again to answer any
questions that teachers have about the Glencoe materials and also to get
teachers who have not had training started with them. A refresher will be held
on Friday, October 12th for teachers who attended training during the summer.
For teachers that did not attend we will be holding a training session on
Saturday, October 13th. Please remember to sign up through the Events section on
the right hand side column.
