The 21st Century Middle School Social Studies Classroom

Ready to take the next step?  The Social Studies team will review the Glencoe resources and show innovative ways to integrate the adoption with the technology available in your room.  Intermediate and advanced skills will be demonstrated with example flipcharts for reviewing and editing.   The skills continuum will be used as a self-assessment to differentiate instruction for the teacher/learner.  Bring your questions and flipcharts to share with others.

American History Seminars

Social Studies teachers of grades 6-12 are invited to attend American History seminars sponsored by TUSD’s Teaching American History Grant.  These engaging, content-rich sessions will be conducted by graduate students from the University of Arizona Department of History and TUSD Social Studies teachers. The focus will be on content to help build teacher knowledge.  Upcoming topics include: Industrialization and the Environment (October 22), WWII (October 29) and GeoHistory (November 12). Pima Air & Space Museum Materials
September 5, 2008
The Pima Air & Space Museum has come across an excess of materials for teachers to help students understand World War II.  One is a hand out describing the 8th Air Force and their missions over Europe and the other is a complete teachers packet developed for the 50th anniversary of WWII which includes posters and picture dealing with life during and after World War II.  If you or anyone you know are interested in getting any of theses materials please contact Mina Stafford at mstafford@pimaair.org.
