ROBISON MAGNET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
An International Baccalaureate World School
Dear Robison Magnet Students, Staff and Community,
The 2012-2013 school-year is coming to a close and each spring becomes even more special. Many of the students, all the way up to 5th graders, I have known since they were being rolled around in strollers behind their older sisters and brothers. I have seen them wave to me from their car seats then toddle down the halls, peeking into classrooms where their parents might have even been taught. They grow faster than I can keep track and soon they are sitting in front of me at Kindergarten Round Up. I may have called them "sweetee" or "partner" every day for five years but at the Round Up I really start to learn their names and who they are as individuals until I call out their name at 5th grade promotion. In this special community I have found the kindest and brightest children in Tucson. It has always been my goal to be a consistent, caring adult in their lives and the most important effort I make each day is finding out who they are, and all of their particular challenges and strengths.
The evidence is clear. The International Baccalaureate – Primary Years Program is the best match for these wonderful students. As you can see ion this website Robison Magnet is about more than reading and math alone. It is about developing a sense of who we are and how we fit into a bigger world. From the transportation museum constructed in kindergarten, to learning about our heroes in 1st grade, and patterns in 2nd the IB builds globally-minded students. Third graders learned about pathways to discovery, 4th graders continued with scientific inquiry and 5th graders bring it all together in their exhibition projects.
It has been the greatest pleasure in my life transforming the school and I look forward to watching the transformation continue. Have a great summer!
Sincerely,
Robert Pitts
